Kalamata International Airport Secures € 125 Million Upgrade Program

Kalamata Airport Greece Navinvest Greece 2026

Kalamata International Airport is set to receive a € 125 million upgrade following the signing of a concession agreement between the Greek State and Growthfund, the National Fund of Greece.

The upgrade program includes the construction of a new passenger terminal, modernization of the existing facilities, expansion of check-in counters from four to ten, larger security screening and passport control areas, upgraded aircraft parking facilities, and the development of new retail, commercial and food and beverage spaces. The project also includes the introduction of new technologies and extensive infrastructure improvements to increase the airport's efficiency and capacity.

The investment is expected to strengthen Kalamata International Airport's role as the main gateway to the southern Peloponnese. Its strategic location allows it to serve Messinia and the wider southern Peloponnese directly, improving access for international visitors while reducing dependence on connecting flights through Athens. As tourist arrivals continue to increase, the upgraded airport will be better positioned to accommodate higher passenger volumes and enhance regional connectivity.
