Greek Parliament approves € 36 million investment to transform Vasilitsa into year-round mountain resort

Vasilitsa Ski Resort Greece

U Resort, part of D Group, has received approval from the Greek Parliament to secure a 40-year concession agreement for the operation, management and redevelopment of the Vasilitsa National Ski Center in northwestern Greece. The € 36 million investment project will transform Vasilitsa into a modern, year-round mountain destination.

The redevelopment plan includes extensive upgrades to the resort's infrastructure, modern visitor and hospitality facilities, enhanced recreational amenities designed to support year-round operations. Planned investments include the modernization of ski infrastructure, accommodation and hospitality offerings, sports and wellness facilities, and activities that will attract visitors throughout all seasons. The long-term vision is to establish Vasilitsa as an international-standard mountain tourism, sports and training destination.

Vasilitsa is one of Greece's top mountain resorts and among the country's largest ski destinations. The ski centre currently features 22 kilometres of slopes served by seven lifts. Located in the Pindus mountain range at elevations between 1,642 and 2,110 metres, the resort lies approximately 45 kilometres from Grevena and around 130 kilometres from Ioannina, making it easily accessible to both domestic visitors and neighbouring Balkan markets.

The investment also reflects Greece's broader strategy to diversify its tourism offering beyond the traditional summer season. By investing in mountain resorts and alternative tourism experiences, the country aims to strengthen its position as a year-round destination and reduce its dependence on seasonal tourism.
