Microsoft announced the acquisition of Softomotive, a world-leading provider of robotic process automation (RPA). According to the Microsoft, Softomotive would become a part of Microsoft’s Power Automate Platform.
Date: May 19, 2020
Softomotive was founded in Greece and moved its headquarters to London in 2005. It specializes in process automation technology, or software that helps companies save time and money by automating repetitive or manual tasks such as entering data into spreadsheets. The company’s products are used in the health-care, banking, insurance and telecommunications industries.
Softomotive raised $ 25 million in 201 from Grafton Capital. Today, it currently helps more than 9,000 global customers seamlessly automate business processes across legacy and modern desktop applications.
When bundled with Microsoft’s Power Automate, the combined offering will also enable RPA connectivity to many new apps and services including SAP and traditional green-screen terminal applications.
According to the Microsoft, this acquisition opens many possibilities for its customers, including:
Delivering a comprehensive low-code desktop automation solution with WinAutomation.
Expanding the out-of-the-box UI automation drivers for commonly used apps and services.
Enabling parallel execution and multitasking.
Offering thousands of additional features.
This acquisition confirms the potential of Greek-founded or Greek-based start-ups and is a vote of confidence in the Greek tech ecosystem.
