Paros Airport to receive € 45.44 million upgrade under Greece’s National Development Program

Paros Airport, located on the island of Paros in Greece, will receive a € 45.44 million upgrade following the Greek Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport’s approval of the project under the National Development Program 2026–2030. The project, aimed at strengthening the island’s aviation infrastructure and passenger capacity, is scheduled for completion by 31 December, 2030.
The project will significantly expand the existing airport infrastructure, including the construction of a new 12,117 square meters passenger terminal, a new control tower, fire station and security outpost. The runway will be extended from 1,400 meters to 1,799 meters, while the aircraft parking will also be expanded. Additional works include a permanent wastewater treatment plant, upgraded safety and electromechanical systems, improvements to the surrounding area and the airport’s internal road network, as well as necessary utility connections and archaeological works.
The airport upgrade comes as Paros faces rapidly growing tourism demand and increasing pressure on its infrastructure. Passenger traffic at Paros Airport rose from 98,991 in 2020 to 362,140 in 2024, while the island recorded nearly 970,000 combined ferry and cruise arrivals in 2025. The expanded airport is expected to improve connectivity and handling capacity while supporting more efficient management of the island’s growing tourism flows.
