Greece announces Covid-19 Vaccine Schedule

The Greek government has announced that the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine will be available in January 2020 to Greece’s general population.

Athens, Greece: 21 December 2020

According to a news item in the Greek Travel Pages, the Greek government has announced the following Covid-19 vaccination schedule:

26 December 2020: 9,750 doses of the Pfizer vaccine will be given to the Greek authorities.
27 December 2020: the first vaccinations will be performed in the reference hospitals of Attica. These include: Attiko, Evangelismos, Sotiria, Thriasio and Asklipieio Voulas.
28 December 2020: the vaccine will be distributed to the university hospitals of Larissa, Thessaloniki, Ioannina and Patras. The medical staff there will be vaccinated on 29 December 2020.
30 December 2020: Greek authorities expect to receive a larger vaccine batch of 83,850 doses from Pfizer.

According to Greek Travel Pages, the vaccination of the general population is expected to begin during the middle of January 2021.

Greece expects to receive a total of 1,265,550 doses of Covid-19 vaccines from Pfizer by March 2020. Greece is also procuring vaccines from the other major pharmaceutical groups involved in COVID-19 vaccine development.

The Prime Minister of Greece Kyriakos Mitsotakis will be among first in Greece vaccinated against the coronavirus.

According to the European Commission’s President Ursula von der Leyen, the vaccine will be available for all EU countries at the same time, on the same conditions.
